Well we are already two days into 2025! And well what a curious start to 2025 it has been so far, the Hogmanay Celebrations on New Years Eve in Edinburgh, well they were cancelled due to high winds - and well the high winds were certainly felt across quite a lot of the country, and yet on Thursday the 2nd of January 2025, a change, a welcome clear sky and a slight change in the temperature, colder than it has been and of course this weekend what is forecasted? Snow!
But it was this afternoon that a visit to Shipley Country Park was on the cards, and the walk in question, well it was walking in the opposite way, anti clockwise around Shipley Hill (Horsepool Hill) a location that today seemed bare, gone is the green, gone is the colour, although it will return as Spring encroaches, until then though the woodlands seemed that little bit bare, the impacts of the high winds could be seen as quite a large tree had fallen, but hold on, clear skies and a low sun. Well I had stopped off just within the woodlands of Shipley Hill and a clearing in the woodlands meant that I just had to send the drone up, to see what could be seen, and from above, a glorious sky, calming and soothing and the countryside of Shipley Hill looking just beautiful, but of course the encroaching development of Shipley Lakeside, where the former American Adventure Theme Park used to be, being lit up with a glorious light from the afternoon sunshine as it was low in the sky.
